WEYMOUTH, Mass. – Making the trek to the Weymouth Club, the Boston University women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to B-line rival Boston College on Saturday evening.
The final result was not indicative of the Terriers' (2-4) efforts, as the Eagles (3-2) had to rally from a 5-3 deficit in the No. 3 doubles match for the first point before capturing two singles points in third-set tiebreakers.
Graduate student
Emily Kim and junior
Erica Di Battista claimed a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles before the Eagles top duo fended off senior
Shelly Yaloz and sophomore
Kaitlin Tan, 6-3, following their win last week against Harvard's No. 1 doubles team. Sophomore
Victoria Carlsten and freshman
Michelle Kleynerman were one game away from capturing the first point, but the Eagles' No. 3 duo won the last four games to move ahead, 1-0.
BC then prevailed in the top three singles matches in straight sets for the team win. The other three contests went to a super tiebreaker. Freshman
Sydney Sharma led BU with a 6-3, 6-7, 11-9 win at line 6 against Muskan Mahajan, who was the No. 26 recruit in 2020.
Both sophomore
Victoria Carlsten and senior
Shelly Yaloz won a set in their respective matches before BC prevailed in the tiebreakers at lines 4 and 5, respectively.
The Terriers will next visit Bryant on Sunday (Feb. 13) at 5:15 p.m.
