BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Boston University women's tennis continued its opening weekend with a dominant 7-0 win over Patriot League foe Bucknell on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers secured the doubles point and went on to take each singles match in straight sets.
Senior
Kaitlin Tan and sophomore
Emily Zhao won their doubles match 6-0 at the No. 2 spot to set the foundation for the doubles point. Senior
Victoria Carlsten and junior
Nina Gulbransen secured the point with a 6-1 victory of their own at line three.
Carlsten brought her momentum into singles and secured the first win at the No. 2 spot 6-2, 6-0. She was followed by freshman
Uma Bakaityte who won 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot. Soon after, Tan clinched the match for BU with a 6-1, 6-1 victory of her own at line three to earn BU it's second win on opening weekend.
Play continued on the remaining courts with Zhao, freshman
Blanka DeMicheli and junior Michelle Kleynermen winning in straight sets in the Nos. 6, 5 and 1 spots, respectively.
The Terriers will continue their season on Saturday, Jan. 27 with a trip to Dartmouth. First serve against the Ivy League foe is set for 1 p.m.
