BOSTON – Looking to remain in the upper half of the jam-packed Patriot League standings with only four games remaining, the Boston University men's soccer team will visit Colgate on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Both squads are currently tied for second at eight points (2-1-2 PL) alongside Bucknell. Lehigh sits atop the standings at 10 points (3-1-1 PL) and four other programs are just one point behind the Terriers at an identical 2-2-1.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is on a three-game unbeaten streak following a 1-0 home win vs. Bucknell and 1-1 draws against both Lafayette and Harvard.
- The Terriers are seeking their first road win of the season (0-2-3) after most recently dropping a 3-1 decision at Lehigh. In the other road PL game, BU battled Loyola Maryland to a 2-2 tie.
- Sophomore Andrea Di Blasio has netted both game winners this fall with go-ahead goals against Bucknell and Army West Point to grab a team lead in both goals (3) and points (7).
- Overall, 14 Terriers have claimed at least one point this fall with junior Quin DeLaMater, junior Damola Salami and graduate student Aidan Bone joining Di Blasio in earning multiple goals.
- DeLaMater is the lone Terrier so far to record both multiple goals and multiple assists. He's tied with senior Daniel Kim, junior Diego Rived and senior Andrew Rent at a team-high two assists.
- BU has had three keepers start at least three games apiece, combining for a .692 save percentage and 1.54 goals against average.
- Graduate student Andrew Wike was named PL Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time this past Monday after recording three saves against the Bison for his second shutout of the year.
- Overall, opponents are attempting an average of 2.3 more shots per game (10.2-7.9) with a 72-37 lead in corner kicks.
SCOUTING COLGATE
- The Raiders have lost their last two games to No. 20 Cornell (4-1) and at Loyola Maryland (2-1) following a three-game unbeaten streak (1-0-2) that included a 1-0 win against Holy Cross.
- Colgate started the season with a 1-0 loss to then-No. 25 Syracuse and 1-0 victory at No. 13 Virginia.
- Blake Pipkin owns a team-high 12 points thanks to five goals and two assists. Twelve Raiders have earned at least one point this fall with Aidan Wright leading the way at three assists.
- Oliver Townend has started nine games at net, posting a .676 save percentage and 1.22 goals against average.
- Opponents are nearly doubling Colgate in shots per game, 12.2-6.8, with a 57-39 advantage in corner kicks.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series, 10-4-3, with a 4-1-1 mark over the last six meetings.
- In the previous meeting, the Terriers earned a 2-0 home victory last November in the PL semifinals.
- The teams battled to a scoreless draw during the regular season at Nickerson Field.
- In BU's last visit to Hamilton, New York, the Raiders claimed a 3-0 victory.
