WEYMOUTH, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team fell in a 5-2 decision to local rival Boston College on Friday.
Â
The Eagles secured the doubles point, but they were not completely uncontested. BU earned a doubles win at line two thanks to junior
Michelle Kleynerman and freshman
Uma Bakaityte in a 6-2 decision. Unfortunately, it would not be enough to swing momentum in BU's favor.
Â
The Terriers got on the board first in singles with a win at the No. 3 spot. Senior
Kaitlin Tan blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 to give BU its first point of the match.
Â
Fortune favored BC through the next three singles matches as it clinched the match win with victories at the Nos. 5, 6 and 1 spots, respectively. The Eagles also picked up a win at the No. 4 spot to bring their total points to five.
Â
BU earned one final point from senior
Victoria Carlsten at line two. After dropping the first set 6-3, she won the second 6-3 to force a super tiebreak. The senior collected the 1-0 (4) win to give BU its second and final point of the match.
Â
The Terriers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 17, with a trip to Charlotte. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
