WINCHESTER, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team defeated Stony Brook in a 6-1 decision on Friday evening at the Winchester Tennis Club. After securing the doubles point, BU went on to win five of six singles matches to earn the 6-1 victory.

Gabriella Mikaul were the first pair to win in doubles with a dominant 6-0 win at line one. Senior
Nina Gulbransen and junior
Emily Zhao backed that up with a win of their own at line three in a 6-2 decision. With the clinched doubles point, the match at line two went unfinished.

Bakaityte played her singles match to 6-2, 3-1 at the top of the lineup before it was retired and the point was awarded to BU. Junior
Rhea Rai brough BU to a 3-0 lead with an efficient 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 6 spot. Stony Brook closed in with a win at line three, but BU quickly sealed its fate. Zhao's 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 4 spot clinched the victory for the Terriers.

Play continued at lines two and five, which both went BU's way. Liu won 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (2) at the No. 2 spot then Gulbransen won 6-7 (5), 6-3, 1-0 (1) at the No. 5 spot to bring the final score to BU 6, Stony Brook 1.

The Terriers will be back in action on Sunday (Feb. 23) when they face their first Patriot League opponent of the season in Colgate. First serve at Winchester Tennis Club is set for 1 p.m.
