AMHERST, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team (7-7, 3-0 PL) posted a 4-2 victory over UMass on Friday evening. After securing the doubles point, the Terriers won at lines one, two and five to clinch the win.
Senior
Nina Gulbransen and junior
Emily Zhao dominated at No. 3 doubles with a 6-0 win. Sophomore
Blanka DeMicheli and freshman
Madison Liu clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at line two to put BU at a 1-0 advantage headed into singles.
Sophomore
Uma Bakaityte was the first to win in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the top of the lineup. Freshman
Gabriella Mikaul was next, winning 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot to give BU a 3-0 lead in the match. UMass closed in on BU's lead with wis at lines four and three, respectively, but could not fend off the Terriers for long.
Junior
Rhea Rai played at the No. 5 spot for BU and only gave up two games in her match. Her efficient 6-1, 6-1 win clinched the win for the Terriers in their last non-conference match of the season.
BU will turn back to Patriot League play on Saturday, April 5, with a trip to Holy Cross. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
