WINCHESTER, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team (10-8, 6-1 PL) fell to Army West Point in a 4-3 decision in its regular season finale on Saturday. The match was closely contested, with the clinching point coming down to the final singles match.
 
The Black Knights took the first singles win at line three before sophomore Uma Bakaityte and freshman Gabriella Mikaul won their match, 6-4, at the top of the lineup. Army took the doubles point with a win at the No. 2 spot.
 
BU fought back quickly in singles, when Bakaityte won at the top of the lineup 6-2, 6-2. She was backed by Mikaul, whose 6-2, 6-3 win at line two put BU up 2-1 in the match. Army then caught back up with a win at the No. 5 spot.
 
Freshman Madison Liu was next to win for the Terriers with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 win at line three, giving BU a brief 3-2 lead. Army tied things again with a three-set win at line six, forcing the match down to the final singles court. The Black Knights won in three sets at line four to earn a 4-3 win over BU. The loss is BU's first Patriot League regular season loss since 2018 when it lost to Army, 4-3.
 
The Terriers will await their seed for the Patriot League Championship which begins on April 24 in Hamilton, N.Y.
