Emerie Loftis Named Field Hockey Assistant Coach

BOSTON – Emerie Loftis, who most recently served as head coach of the Panthers United club team in Virginia, has joined the Boston University field hockey program as an assistant coach, as announced by head coach Sally Starr on Tuesday.

Loftis, a West Chester alumnus, also coached at St. Catherine's School in Richmond, Virginia, while also serving as the director of goalkeeping at PowerHouse Field Hockey.  
 
"After an extensive search and interview process, we are very excited to welcome Emerie to our staff as an assistant coach," said Starr. "She has quickly gained valuable coaching experience at the club and high school levels, and her goalkeeping knowledge will be a huge asset to our program. We can't wait to have her get started with us and complement our team culture."

A USA Field Hockey certified coach, Loftis transferred West Chester after two seasons at Delaware and capped her collegiate career with a strong 2023 season in goal for the Golden Rams, posting a 6-2 record with a 1.12 goals-against average and a .719 save percentage.

Loftis began her coaching career while in high school as an assistant for Panthers United. She went on to serve as an assistant coach at Empower Field Hockey during her time in Delaware before overseeing the goalkeeper development at PowerHouse after completing her degree at West Chester. She coached at St. Catherine's during the 2024 season before taking the helm for Panthers United, coaching four teams at the U16 and U19 levels.

Loftis, who has served as a USA Nexus coach since the spring of 2024, graduated summa cum laude from West Chester with a bachelor's degree in psychology and was named to the 2023 NFHCA National Academic Squad and the 2021 CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
