CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After helping the No. 16 Boston University field hockey team head into the postseason on a winning note, sophomore Jacinda McLeod has been named the America East Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

McLeod tallied the overtime winner just 85 seconds into the extra session to lead the Terriers to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Maine on Saturday at Jack Barry Field. With the win, BU secured the No. 3 seed for this weekend's America East tournament.

With the Terriers trailing Maine, 1-0, as regulation was winding down, junior Andrea Greene tied up the game in th 69th minute. BU quickly earned a corner in overtime and McLeod took a direct insert from senior Maryette Stuart and blasted the ball to the right corner of the cage to end the game.

The sophomore back also helped the BU defense limit the Black Bears' offense, which came into the game averaging a league-best 3.58 goals per game, to just a single goal.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak and secured the Terriers' seventh straight 10-win season.

McLeod ranks second on the team in both points (16) and goals (6) and tallied points (4g, 2a) during the month of October. She is the fourth time a Terrier has earned the weekly accolade from the conference this season, as Greene won it twice (Aug. 30, Oct. 12) and senior Allie Dolce took home the honor on Sept. 7.

The Terriers will face second-seeded Albany in the semifinals of the America East Championship on Friday (Nov. 5) at 5:30 p.m. The tournament will be held at top-seeded New Hampshire.
