DURHAM, N.H. - Looking for its third straight victory, the Boston University men's soccer team fell to New Hampshire with 3:43 remaining in the first overtime on Saturday night at Bremner Field.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Thomson recorded six saves, including three in the extra session, but was helpless at the end, as UNH placed a long throw-in deep inside the box for Alex Hussein to place in the net after a quick scramble took place.

Banned from the America East tournament due to the team moving to the Patriot League next summer, the Terriers end the 2012 season at 6-8-4 and fourth place in the league standings at 3-2-2. Recording their fifth golden goal in the program's 11th overtime appearance this season, the Wildcats move to 6-7-4 (2-3-2 AE).

Playing as many as six on the backline, UNH limited BU's opportunities and tried to attack with long passes and deep throw-ins.

The Wildcats went into the locker room at the half with a 4-2 edge in shots.

BU had its best look in the 71st minute when junior Anthony Ciccone rifled an attempt that UNH keeper Travis Worra swatted away. Redshirt-freshman Mac McGuire then headed the rebound over the crossbar.

The Terriers had one more opportunity in the 88th minute when senior Michael Bustamante sent a corner into the box. He moved out to grab the cleared ball and fired another attempt that UNH blocked.

A three-time All-Conference First Team and All-New England honoree, Bustamante ends his collegiate career ninth all-time at BU with 27 assists.

Worra ended the game with four saves for the shutout victory, as UNH finished with a 19-8 lead in shots.

The Terriers end their tenure in the America East with a league-high 11 regular season titles and seven conference tournament championship trophies.

Highlights of the season included a 1-0 win at then-No. 10 Boston College for the program's 500th career win. BU also battled then-No. 3 UConn to a 1-1 draw.

The team only loses two seniors in Bustamante and defender Max White and will return next season 2011 AE Defender of the Year Kelvin Madzongwe, who missed the final 15 games of this year due to injury. Other returnees include McGuire and sophomore Parker Powell, who had five goals apiece. Junior Anthony Ciccone led BU with a team-high eight assists.
