BOSTON – Resuming Patriot League play, the Boston University men's soccer team will fly south to face preseason favorite Loyola Maryland on Saturday afternoon with action slated to begin at 3 p.m. The contest is part of a doubleheader with the Terrier women first battling the Greyhounds at 12 p.m.
BU started its PL title defense last Saturday with a 3-2 home win over Army West Point, while the Greyhounds dropped a 2-0 decision at American.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers are riding a six-game win streak against PL competition dating back to the end of last season by a combined score of 12-3.
- BU is 0-1-2 on the road so far following Tuesday's 5-1 loss at Brown with the 1-1 draws occurring at UMass Lowell and Northeastern, respectively.
- Freshman Markus Ramsey became the seventh Terrier to score a goal this fall at Brown, while senior Daniel Kim earned a team-high second assist.
- In the PL opener, sophomore Andrea Di Blasio struck twice against Army in the 3-2 victory to earn PL Offensive Player of the Week honors.
- Kim, junior Quin DeLaMater, junior Diego Rived and sophomore Jason Zacarias are the four Terriers who have earned at least one goal and assist so far.
- Rived is the lone Terrier to have started all seven games while compiling a team-high 541 minutes played with four shots on goal.
- Both graduate student Andrew Wike and junior Ben Alexander have appeared in four games apiece, combining for a .700 save percentage and 1.71 goals against average.
- Opponents are averaging 3.3 more shots attempted per game (10.4-7.1) with a 38-18 advantage in corner kicks.
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYLAND
- The Greyhounds are 0-4-2 after posting a 7-3-8 record last season with a 4-2-3 home mark.
- Loyola is hosting its third opponent this fall following a 0-0 draw against Saint Joseph's and 2-0 loss to Iona.
- Both PL Preseason Midfielder of the Year Sean McEvoy and Charlie Herley own one goal apiece along with seven shot attempts.
- PL Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year Dylan Van der Walt has started all six games, posting a .568 save percentage and 2.74 goals against average.
- Opponents are averaging 5.5 more shots per game (14.5-9.0) with the Greyhounds owning a 23-17 advantage in corner kicks.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU and Loyola Maryland are tied, 5-5-3, after BU won each of the last two contests.
