For the 12th straight year, GoTerriers.com will once again count down the top 12 achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Tuesday and Friday as we reveal this year's Terrier Twelve.
Â
Coming in at No. 6 is the women's lightweight rowing team's terrific spring season, as the Terriers won the Eastern Sprints Championship, were double skull IRA National Champions and finished as IRA National Runner-up as a team.
Â
At the IRA National Championship Regatta in Sacramento, Calif., the lightweight women's double scull, made up of freshmanÂ
Catharine Griskowitz and classmateÂ
Grace Beery, pulled away from the pack early and were never seriously challenged. The Terriers' 2x cruised to victory to win gold and the IRA National Championship double scull title for the second time in program history. Â
Â
As a team at the IRAs, the Terriers won gold in the double skull, silver in the varsity four and bronze in the varsity eight.  BU was the only program to medal in all three events, and finished as IRA National Runner-Up for the fourth-consecutive year.
Â
Earlier in the season, BU won five gold medals at Eastern Sprints to finish with 45 team points and capture the Ulbrich Trophy as Eastern Sprints Champions for just the second time in program history.Â
Â
Going into the last race of the day at Sprints, the varsity eight boat needed only to finish in the top three to win the Ulbrich Trophy. Coxed by
Katie Barnett and stroked by
Janice Hagerman, the V8 finished second with a time of 6:39.65 to win silver, ahead of crews from Harvard (6:46.62) Wisconsin (6:48.91) and Georgetown (6:52.94).
Â
Earlier at Sprints, the varsity four boat, coxed by
Antonella Kugler and stroked by
Tamara Gelfman, took home gold defeating second-place Wisconsin by open water. The Terriers' 3V8, coxed by
Eleanor Balke and stroked by
Lauren John, also won gold, leading the grand final from start to finish and helping the Terriers earn 45 points and the overall Sprints title.Â
Â
Other season highlights included winning three gold medals at the Dad Vail Regatta (V8, V4 and 2x)Â and winning the Lightweight Beanpot over Harvard and MIT for the fourth-consecutive year.Â
Â
At the conclusion of the season, senior
Janice Hagerman and freshman
Haleigh Prindle earned Lightweight All-American honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. Hagerman became the first-ever BU student-athlete to be selected as an All-American in four consecutive years.
