Herb Semino, a football, basketball and baseball star of the class of 1933, earned nine varsity letters at BU. He was a product of Brockton High School, where he lettered in all three sports on his way to All-Scholastic recognition in football and basketball. He played on the undefeated 1929 Tech Tournament championship team and maintained four years of honor grades during his high school career.
He was a Phi Delta Kappa student at BU and would go on to earn a fellowship following graduation. From 1937-40, he served as the head coach in basketball and track and an assistant in football at Leicester High School. From 1944 to 1947, he was head football coach at Abington H.S. before moving to Bartlett H.S. in Webster, where he was head coach in football, basketball and baseball until 1952. He later became a science teacher at the same school.
Among his fondest memories in college was catching a drive off the bat of Yale's Albie Booth in 1933 and then being presented with the game ball by the Yale captain following the game.Â
